One of my 2018 resolutions was to take some more time to read! I have been incorporating it into my daily routine by reading before bed and even sometimes during my lunch breaks. It has felt so good to read more and I have so many interesting books on my list to read in 2018.

There are some books that I’ve read in the past year that have really helped inspire me, both in my career and my side hustle, that I wanted to share with you all. I’ll also be sharing some books that I’m currently reading or plan to read this year. So keep reading to find out some of the books that I think every millennial woman should read early on in their career!

#1 The Woman I Wanted to Be

When Diane von Furstenberg had her TV show on E!, I got to learn more about DVF and how she has built a multi-million dollar fashion business. In her book The Woman I Wanted to Be, you get to learn even more about how DVF grew up and the struggles she had to overcome in order to find herself as well as build her business. In her book, she also gives great advice for women and how they can find what they are truly meant to do.

If you’re looking to learn more about one of the original #girlbosses, then I definitely recommend adding this to your list for 2018!

#2 The Magnolia Story

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines from the HGTV show, Fixer Upper. Not only are they successful but they are also very real and honest, which is one of the reasons why I am such a big fan of these two. Their book The Magnolia Story gives you a more detailed view of how they got to where they are today. There are so many career lessons and entrepreneurial lessons in this book, I even wrote a whole post about the career advice I took away from their book. If you’re also a fan of Chip and Joanna Gaines, definitely pick up this book and start reading it – you will not be disappointed!

I also want to read the book that Chip wrote called Capital Gaines where he talks about the many different businesses he started in his entrepreneurial journey and the lessons he learned from it.

#3 You Are a Badass

I recently started reading this book while I was on my flight to Phoenix and I can already see why so many people rave about this self-help book written by Jen Sincero. In the book, she offers honest advice to help you find yourself and your passion in life. I’ve already learned a few new tips and I’m only about 30 pages in! I can’t wait to keep reading this book and put the tips into practice.

After I finish reading this book, I plan to also read her second book in the series called You Are a Badass at Making Money. I’ve heard so many great reviews on this book as well and since one of my 2018 goals is to generate more income through my side hustle – I feel like this will be a great way for me to really put strategies in place for how I can achieve that goal.

#4 Millennial Reboot

Remember that time I was on a podcast?! If you don’t, definitely listen to the interview that I did with one of the hosts of the Millennial Playbook Podcast and also the co-author of Millennial Reboot, Kate Athmer. The book that she wrote along with co-author, Rob Johnson, is all about helping millennials finding their way in the real world. It has been an amazing read so far and this book is right up my alley, being a career advice blogger and a fellow millennial trying to advance my career 😉 If you’re also a millennial trying to find your way in the professional world – then order this book and read the amazing advice the authors provide.

#5 Leave Your Mark

This book is currently on my list for books to read in 2018! I’ve heard so many good reviews on the book that is written by Aliza Licht, the woman behind the DKNY PR Girl Twitter account. In the book, she talks all about how to communicate effectively, develop a personal brand and so much more. It pretty much is everything any career girl needs to know, all in one book 🙂 I will definitely be reading this in 2018.

Some other books that are on my reading list for 2018:

Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg

I’ve always been a big fan of Sheryl Sandberg and the messages she gives to other women to not be afraid to advance their careers and become executives. I really want to read her book Lean In this year and her other more recently published book, Option B.

Power Your Happy by Lisa Sugar

One of my favorite sites to visit pretty much on a daily basis is Popsugar and the founder of Popsugar, Lisa Sugar, wrote her own book about living your dream life and overall just being happy in your career. It’s one of the books that I really want to read in 2018, especially since this is one of my main mantras that I try to live by on a daily basis 🙂

Fringe Hours by Jessica Turner

This was one of the books that I received in my SHEClub Monthly Subscription Box! This book is all about self-care and self-love, which is perfect because this year I am really trying to get back into a self-care routine again.

I don’t read very often but when I find the right book, I can’t seem to tear myself away from it so hopefully this will be the case! x
